It is that time of the year when our gardens tell us “it is time to sow our winter vegetables”. It is no different at Rochedale Community Garden where our members commenced the winter planting in early April and now 6 weeks later the gardens are exploding with growth and colour!!!
As with successful gardening it is all about Position, Position, Position and Preparation, Preparation, Preparation…… The plants are thriving in soil prepared with compost produced in our dedicated compost area and fertilizer, dug in and well watered. The plants enjoy their days in the sun with dedicated watering by our members.
Early harvest of our lettuce plantings has been bountiful and the taste proves the point, “that nothing can beat the taste of your own vegetables!”. The next couple of months should see members harvesting bountiful crops from our exploding garden!!!
